Nephadim? [Genesis 6]
Some try to say the bizarreness of angels having human children is enough to show that the Bible is not inspired. It getâs so bad that many donât even preach about the angels coming down and having children. When they disregard it, the book of Jude and Corinthians become sore spots for those wishing to look for Biblical error. There is no inconsistency. Here are just a few of the ancient texts that discuss the angels having children by ânormal womenâ.
Genesis 6:1-4- And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. ------------------ and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became giants which were of old, men of renown.
Jude 1:6-8 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. [Angels leaving their 1st estate and acting like the people of Sodom is a direct expansion of Genesis 6.]
I Corinthians 11:10- That is why a woman ought to have a veil on her head, because of the angels. [Women covering their heads because of the angels is a direct reference to Angels described in Genesis 6.]
Many verses in the book of Enoch tell about the downfall of 200 of the teaching angels. While most of these humanized angels were trying to teach humans about Godâs ways and continued to be what we might think of as good, some were trying to get too close to their students. The books of Enoch and Jubilees give us a broader perspective than Genesis 6. They indicate that the angelâs desire to procreate with humans was strong. It seems that having children was very important to them and probably procreation was not possible in heaven.
Enoch 7:2-7-And when the angels, the sons of heaven, beheld them [women], they became enamored of them, saying to each other. Come, let us select for ourselves wives from men, and let us begat childrenâ¦Their whole number was 200 who descended.
Jubilees 7: 21-22- Owing to the fornication wherein the angels against the law of their ordinances went a whoring after the daughters of men and took themselves wives of all that they chose and they made the beginning of uncleanness.
Book of Reuben 2:18-19- For thus they [women] allured the Watchers who were before the flood; for as these angels beheld them, they lusted after them, and
